Adlai Stevenson

Blue, flattened, "Adlai" paper top hat.

'Stevenson for President' cardboard top hat, decorated with the stars and stripes of the American flag.

The first piece of memorabilia found in the Jane Tolmach Collection was this blue, flattened, paper top hat. The hat contains the name "Adlai" on top and in front of the top of the hat. Along the edge of the bill, it says "Democratic National Convention." This hat was a piece of the Stevenson merchandise during the 1952 Presidential Election.
As for the second hat, the 'Stevenson for President' top hat was used to promote his campaign while running for the presidency.

These buttons were also a part of the Jane Tolmach Collection. Stevenson sought the Democratic presidential nomination for a third time in the election of 1960, but was once again defeated, but this time by Senator John F. Kennedy of Massachusetts. Both buttons are about 1 1/4" in diameter with a bold blue print and a solid backgorund.
